The only exemption to this mandatory requirement is to cable under direct supervision of a person holding an appropriate licence or registration under the Cabling Provider Rules.

For further information refer to http://www.aca.gov.au/cabling/index.htm

Q. Can I program Comfort myself?

A. Yes you can. However iQhome strongly recommends that you have a qualified iQhome trained integrator install and program Comfort for you.

Comfort is most easily programmed /configured using a MicroSoft Windows based configuration tool called Comfigurator. This software is available from iQhome and with some reading and self training you can make simple changes to the functionality of the system after it has been initially installed by the iQhome trained integrator. If you wish you may program the system completely yourself, but when dealing with the security and enjoyment of your home, iQhome recommends that you that advantage of the expertise and support of a qualified iQhome integrator.

Q. Can I use the existing movement sensors used by my old alarm system that I want to replace with the Comfort integrated security and home automation system?

A. Yes you can.

Note!: Your installer may have to replace or add the end of line resistors in the movement sensors to the values required for Comfort. These resistors are supplied with a new Comfort system and will normally only take a few minutes for the installer to replace. The end of line resistors are an important part of the integrity of your security system as they allow the system to detect ( any notify you or your monitoring company) if the movement sensor or the wire to it have been tampered with. For example been cut or short circuited.

The installer may include extra charges in the installation quotation if the movement sensors require specialised equipment to be able to safely get to and perform work on the device.

Q. How many movement sensors, door or window open/close sensors can comfort support?

A. Comfort can have up to 64 inputs that can be used as double end of line resistor security type inputs. The basic system comes with 8 inputs. Modules of additional inputs come in sizes of 8 or 16. Only one 16 input module can added to achieve a total of 24 inputs and eight outputs. Multiple 8 input modules can be added to achieve the total of 64 inputs.

Q. How many keypad/intercom stations can I have with Comfort?

A. With Comfort you can have up to 8 keypads.

Q. Can I have a door phone on the front door as well as the back door?

A. Yes you can, in fact you can have up to three door phones, for example one for the front door, one for the back door, and one for the front gate.
